We deliver specialist hires across six core GTM functions, trusted by top SaaS and AI companies in the UK and US. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal data, and your rights under data laws.

Whose Data We Collect

We collect and process data from:

  • Candidates applying for jobs through Unicorn

  • Referees or emergency contacts listed by candidates

  • Clients using our recruitment services

  • Website visitors (basic technical data only)

What We Collect

Depending on your role, we may collect:

Candidates

  • Name, contact details, CVs, employment history, education, work eligibility (e.g. visa status)

  • Salary expectations, interview notes, and preferences

  • Optional: diversity data, health/disability status (only with consent)

Clients

  • Business contact information, hiring needs, and communications

Referees & Emergency Contacts

  • Name and contact details provided by a candidate

Website Visitors

  • IP address, browser type, site usage (anonymised analytics only)

How We Collect It

We collect data:

  • Directly from you via applications, forms, email, or phone

  • From job boards, professional profiles (e.g. LinkedIn), or referrals

  • From cookies (basic, essential cookies only — no tracking/advertising)

  • From clients or referees providing feedback or references

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  • Match candidates with job opportunities

  • Contact you about roles, interviews, and job outcomes

  • Confirm references and legal compliance (e.g. right to work)

  • Manage client relationships and recruitment processes

  • Respond to legal or regulatory obligations

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or sell your data.

Our Legal Basis

We rely on:

  • Legitimate interest (e.g. job matching, client service)

  • Contract (e.g. managing recruitment workflows)

  • Consent (only where required, such as for sensitive data)

  • Legal obligation (e.g. employment checks or compliance)

You can object or withdraw consent at any time.

Data Sharing

We only share your data with:

  • Employers actively hiring through Unicorn

  • Referees you’ve provided

We do not sell or share your data for marketing purposes.

International Transfers

Your data may be stored or processed outside your country (e.g. UK or US), but we ensure appropriate protections are in place under UK GDPR, US state laws (e.g. CCPA where applicable), or standard contractual clauses.

Data Retention

  • Candidate data is kept for up to 3 years from last meaningful contact.

  • Referee and contact data are only retained as long as relevant.

  • You can request deletion earlier — see Section 10.

Data Security

We take your data seriously and implement appropriate measures, including:

  • Encrypted data storage

  • Access controls

  • Staff confidentiality agreements

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have rights to:
